Portrait photos of Raymond towner

Portraits of Raymond Towner

Photo 1, Raymond in his natural habitat

Photo 2, Raymond with his beloved Layout boat

Photo 3, Gritty close up of Raymond.

For this assignment I took several portraits of my good friend and Roommate Raymond Towner. For the first photo the light in the room was kind of lacking so I set my cameras shutter speed to 1250 and my aperture to F4 and my ISO at 25600. For the rest of the pictures I shot in the same settings of 1250 with an ISO of 100 and f4. Raymond is graduating this fall and is graduating with an Agriculture business degree. An interesting fact about Raymond is he is an avid Duck hunter and spends his winters in Kansas lakes and marshes, he recently sucked me into the hobby and has shown me how expensive but fun it is.

Manipulating motion

Photo 1

Fed ex truck

Photo 2

Random truck

For this assignment, I stood outside my front door waiting for any moving car to drive by and it took me forever. For photo one I had my aperture set at 1/40 and my F-stop at 5.6 with my ISO set at 100. I just barley snapped the picture of the truck and as able to keep the Alpha Xi Delta sorority house. For the second photo, I stood outside by my roommate’s truck and again waited forever for another car to pass by my house. For this picture, I kept the settings the same as photo one but I started by having the truck not in focus and quickly brought it into focus as it came past my house achieving the truck being in focus with the Alpha Xi Delta house not in focus.

learning white balance

Understanding White Balance

For this assignment, I set up the camera and tripod outside Kedzi hall. I set the camera to a normal shutter speed and a larger aperture to acquire an in-focus photo of the artwork statue outside. After setting the camera up I went through each white balance setting taking a picture in each setting. This took me longer than it should have since I don’t quite know how to use mu Nikon and had to switch to a cannon. I eventually figured it all out and took the required pictures for the assignment, for next class I’ll have my camera figured out.
