Capturing light at tuttle creek

Capturing light at Tuttle creek.

I drove out to Tuttle creek around 7:00pm last night and photographed the lake and tower at the dam. Braving winds and frostbite I set my camera up on a tripod and set my shutter speed to 2.5 and my aperture  to F22 along with my ISO at 100. It took me a while to get the image I wanted but I achieved getting the lake to look like glass and show the rays of light coming off of the tower. In post production I made the image a little brighter.

This assignment was quite interesting and posed some challenges. I decided to use my pet snake Rodger as my subject for this assignment. I shot all of these photos with the same settings being my shutter speed at 1/1250, an F stop of 4 and an ISO of 25600.  I thought it would be interesting to use a snake as my subject instead of using a human. For the first photo, I decided having Rodger on top of my roommates rent money represented greed well and It surprisingly only took one shot. For my second photo, I put Rodger in my bed with the sheets tucked into bed looking lazy and comfortable. To represent wrath, I set Rodger up with one of my pocket knives and tried to make him look as menacing as possible however he moved a lot and it made it difficult. To represent envy, I tried to get Rodger to appear to be yearning for the outdoors by looking outside a window, this is mainly because he’s an indoor pet. For lust I tried to put Rodger with a fancy looking watch and to make it look like he was yearning for it, however he was starting to get cold by this point and started moving a lot. For pride I put Rodger back in his tank and wanted him to look like he was prideful of his tank. To represent gluttony I fed Rodger and he was very happy to eat, however he is a constrictor and was moving a lot so I got the best photos I could.
